A House or a Home?

My home is made out of Timber. and the wharepuni is made out of Timber. There are no doors inside of my house and there are no doors in the wharepuni.

  1. Hi Isla,

My name's Ruby and I'm one of the people who will be blogging with you this summer as part of the Summer Learning Journey. It's great to see you have been making a start on these activities.

You have come up with some good similarities here. Although I am curious, does your house have no doors? I have never been in a house with no doors before.

Can you think of some differences between your house and a wharepuni? One of the differences I had was that the wharepuni's roof is made from thatch and my roof isn't. Another was that the windows at my house have glass in them but the wharepuni's windows have no glass.

I look forward to reading more of your blog.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hi Isla,

You have made a great start at completing this activity. Maybe you could compare the size, colour or shape of your house compared to the Wharepuni? Is your house yellow and brown like the picture?

My house is light green and white and has very squeaky and noisy doors so I reckon the Wharepuni would be much quieter to sleep in. I wish my home had beautiful carvings like the Wharepuni too.

Can’t wait to read more of your posts.

    Ciao,

    Cadence :)

  3. Kia Ora Isla,

Thanks very much for completing this activity, and for comparing your house to a traditional wharepuni. I appreciate that you've added a photo to this blog post.
What colour is your house? I'm intrigued as to why your house has no doors, how do you get in and out of the house?

We would love to see your response, and to see you continue blogging with us this summer!

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Cheers,

    Jordan
